Since it was first introduced, Aquatica’s Ofuro series has proved very popular, due in large part to its inspiration – the ancient traditions of Japanese bathing.

Modern day bathers love the ability to sit and soak in this superb, contemporary interpretation of olden-style Japanese wooden tub, which provides bathers with a perfectly designed, sculpted bath with internal seat and elevated rim for neck and head support, in which they can immerse themselves up to their neck.

Now, the True Ofuro offers bath lovers one more exciting option – the choice of Graphite Black using our award-winning and ground-breaking NeroX™ solid surface composite, around which to create your stunning new bathroom décor.

Ofuro is also available with an optional inline water heater and digital control panel with temperature display, which will reduce water consumption and provide for a prolonged soaking experience at very comfortable temperatures.

Thanks to the NeroX™ material, this Japanese soaking tub retains heat for much longer and has a silky and smooth surface. Besides being one of our most space conscious bathtubs, the freestanding and petite construction of this Japanese style bathtub means that it can be installed pretty much anywhere in your bathroom.

The Story Behind Aquatica’s True Ofuro

Aquatica brings the real flavor of Japanese bathing into the modern era with the True Ofuro Bathtub. The growing popularity of Japanese style decor and increasing demand for compact bathtubs for small, contemporary bathrooms inspired Aquatica’s international team to create their own modern adaptation of the Japanese soaker. Traditionally, the Ofuro is a deep soaking tub made of hinoki wood. Using proprietary stone composite, Aquatica created an ergonomically designed Japanese soaker, revolutionizing the traditional sit and soak experience, with optional spa features such as hydromassage and chromotherapy. Aquatica’s Japanese inspired designs are truly unique, and the company holds three patents in the United States.

So the design incorporates a built-in seat and the depth of the tub has been extended to 24.25” (61.5 cm) to ensure full body immersion for even 6ft (180 cm) plus bathers. NanoGuard™ is completely transparent and absolutely crucial for a good everyday performance and durability for solid surface bathtubs and lavatories, especially if used in commercial applications. The practical implication to the end user is that bath salts, soap, oily fingerprints and bath oils will have a more difficult time bonding to your bathtubs surface, while upon cleaning all these contaminants can be removed with relatively little effort (damp microfiber cloth and dishwashing detergent).

The special safety step is the best solution for accessibility, making it easier for bathers to enter and exit the deep tub. Carefully crafted from high-quality wood, the True Ofuro step is available to buy in either American Walnut or Teak. The step is recommended for older people or individuals shorter than 5’ ½ ”.

NeroX™ (formerly AquateX™ Black) is a blend of Hematite and Boehmite minerals with state-of-the-art acrylic modified resins and high-purity carbon black pigment. Using high-speed, vacuum assisted, dispersion and mixing we were able to create a visually stunning and highly desirable, high performance black solid surface material.
